Netherlands Competition Authority (NMa) decides to reduce the fine imposed to Scheuten in the past.
The NMa has announced that the fine imposed in connection with alleged competition agreements in the years 2004 - 2005 has been reduced to € 1.6 million for Scheuten. The glass company from Venlo considers this reduction by the NMa as a good step. Scheuten however appealed because it believes that it is still unfairly penalized for affairs it was not involved in.

Update Scheuten Glass
Due to the weak economic situation and difficulties in the building trade in particular, Scheuten Glass is focusing its activities on the production and sale of tempered glass such as heat and sun proof, insulating-, toughened- and laminated safety glass. Furthermore, measures have been taken to lower the costs and to increase the efficiency of the organisation.
Therefore the amount of management layers has been reduced and we will move our colleagues from the current Headquarters to the factories in the Venlo region.
The purpose of these activities is to provide our customers with faster and more reliable deliveries.
Unfortunately, as a result of these strategic adjustments and operational improvements, a certain amount of jobs will be lost. This does not imply the closing of any companies. The management Board works closely with the OR (personnel committee) to carry out this reduction as good as possible under the circumstances.
While the Dutch market is currently weak, the German and Belgian markets stay positive. Scheuten has a strong position and good reputation in all three markets. This in combination with the reorganisation gives us confidence in the future.

Scheuten designs, delivers and installs first ‘Solar tree’ in the Netherlands
Tree serves as source of energy for hybrid vehicles at Floriade 2012
Scheuten combines its knowledge and experience in the field of glass and solar solutions in the development and production of the first Dutch solar tree. The ‘tree’ consists of a steel construction base fitted with leaf-shaped glass-glass solar modules. Within these modules green colored solar cells are combined with green transparent PVB-foil. Scheuten normally applies this technique in its BIPV solutions (Building Integrated Photovoltaic). The energy-generating tree was completed in late March and serves as a charging point for hybrid vehicles in the Sustainable Garden of NL Label next to Villa Flora at the Floriade in Venlo, the Netherlands.
