Rotterdam Central Station
The glass roofing is part of the rebuild and renovation of the Central Station and its environment.
Light, solar heat and a contemporary design are important elements in the design by architect Jan Benthem. Scheuten supplied 30,000 m2 laminated glass in three different compositions. The glass has been manufactured in the float glass factory in Osterweddingen. At this plant Scheuten produces extra clear glass which improves transparency and light transmittance. Furthermore the glass at Rotterdam Central Station has a special coating that ensures the optimal use of solar heat. The silk screen printed glass gives the building a modern appearance.
